Questions on Ads:

Q: How much does it cost to place an ad?
A: Nothing, additional options to increase your ad's visibility are available during ad placement and if you choose these options then there are small fees that will be charged at the end of the ad placing process. Payments are made through paypal's secure site if you do choose an ad upgrade option. Q: How do I contact someone about their item for sale?
A: On the ad detail page, click on the username or on the "Contact Seller" button on the left side of all ads. You must be registered and logged into the site to contact others via the messaging system.

Q: Why is my ad not showing?
A: Many times ads are approved right away but sometimes they are routed thru an approval process which can sometimes take up to 12 hours, but typically much less than that. Please be patient for your ad to show.

Q: Why does it appear that my ads are deleted?
A: First, please log into your account and click on "View my Active Ads" If your ad does not show it was either expired or deleted due to inappropriate language, complaints that the ad was suspicous, etc. We do delete ads from time to time that we receive complaints on ads or ads that appear to be suspicious, but most likely your ad has expired. We will also delete ads that promote other web sites. We have worked hard to create this site and make it enjoyable for snowmobilers. Please do not advertise other websites on sledswap.com. If you want to advertise your Web Site business please contact us.

Q: I received an ad expiration email or renewal email, what should I do?
A: To continue your ad you will need to log into your account and view your active ads. Choose renew your ad to continue showing it. Once an ad is expired it can not be renewed.

Q: How do I upload photos to my ads?
A: During the place an ad process you will be able to upload photos, you can also come back later and ad photos by logging into your account and choosing to edit your ad - near the end of the edit process you will have the option to add photos. To edit your ads login and go to "View my Active Ads" and click on the edit button for the ads you wish to edit.

Q: How do I edit the details of my ad such as the title, year, description, etc?
A: You can login into the site and "View my Active Ads" and click on the edit button for the ads you wish to edit.

Q: How many active ads can I have at one time?
A: 5 is the current limit, users that create multiple accounts to get around this policy will result in their accounts being deleted, along with all ads that are active at the time.

Q: I am a dealer, can I advertise on your site?
A: Yes, but currently only 5 ads per account are allowed. In the very near future all visitors wishing to have more than 3 active ads at one time will be requred to register for a dealer classified ads package and will be required to pay a small monthly fee. You will be notifiied before this happens and there will be additional benefits provided to you if you decide to use this service.

Questions on Registration and Logging In

Q: Why can't I login?
A: Please follow the steps on the login page- sometimes your cookies and internet files need to be cleaned out. Also, if you registered with an email address that is not valid and bounces back to our server your account is deleted and you will need to re-register with a valid email address. Also, some computer configurations have problems logging into our site so if the problem continues please try from a different computer. We are working to design our site so that all users will be able to login without issues.

Q: I forgot my password, how do I find out what it is?
A: Please go to the login page and at the bottom of the page there is a link to have your password emailed to you. Please remember that if you have recently changed email addresses and your old email address is on file then you will not be able to receive your password unless you still have access to your old email account. If you do not have access to your old email account then you will need to create a new account.

Q: I am not receiving emails from your site, why is this?
A: Please make sure your email provider is configured to accept email from us. Sometimes email will end up in your trash or spam folder, make sure to check that folder and allow so that our emails are delivered. Also, to ensure you receive all communications you can log into your account and view, respond to, and delete all messages under My Account>My Communications

Questions on Scams and Suspicous Communications

Q: I think I spotted a suspicous ad or was contacted by someone that may be trying to attempt a fraudulent transaction, what should I do?

Q: What should I do if I think a scammer has contacted me?
A: Do not engage them, so do not respond.

Q: Do you have examples of scam emails?
A: Yes, please go here for examples of scam emails. Rememeber to avoid using Western Union or accepting checks, as even bad checks can take weeks to bounce back. Always meet the seller or buyer in person and never fall for the scams where a willing buyer offers to pay you more than asking price so the item can be shipped. All legitimate buyers and sellers will make themselves available to meet in person (pick a safe, public place) and will also offer a valid phone number for you to talk to them. Also, if the price on an item seems way to low to be true, then it probably is. Do not fall for these ads, we try hard to filter out these ads but occasionally some are missed. A: No, we respect your privacy and never rent or sell your contact information
